FAQ

At AUTOMAP, we've done our best to create a Web site that anticipates and satisfies our customers' needs. With that goal in mind, we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions. If you do not find an answer to your question here, please contact us

Q: What is a remap?
A:
A Remap is the careful reprogramming of your Engine Control Unit (ECU) in order to maximize the engine efficiency for a given fuel grade and climate resulting in increased performance and economy.

Q: Do I have to tell my insurance company?
A:
A Remap is mostly undetectable, however is does class as a modification to your vehicle and as such you should inform your insurance company of any modifications.

Q: Will it effect my Warranty?
A:
A warranty claim can be void if a modification done to the vehicle is proven to be the cause. However, a professional remap is undetectable and would unlikely be the cause of failures. The only concern with newer vehicles still under warranty is if software updates are performed by the manufacturer during a service which would overwrite the ECU and effectively remove the remap. In most cases the remap can be re-installed for a small fee.

Q: What if I change my car?
A:
A Remap is customized and coded to that vehicle and therefore cannot be transferred. A new remap would have to be purchased for the new vehicle.
